Is there a proxy service available to hold funds between two strangers that have a wager?

My real question is a little different but I think that example would be easier for people to understand. If you spend a lot of times on message boards you've probably seen it. One person calls out another and would like to wager on something but they don't know each other so there's always the risk of the losing party not paying up. What could you do to minimize this risk? Is there some way in which each party can front their money with a 3rd party proxy that holds it until a winner is determined? My real example is my NFL season football tickets. I am planning to sell the entire season to one person. If that person or anyone he sells it to gets in a fight at the game or gets thrown out for any reason, I lose my great seats permanently. I'd like to ask him for a deposit that he would get back at the end of the season but as we don't know each other, I'm not sure he would be cool with that which I find understandable. Any creative ideas to protect myself while being fair?

  1. Talk to a lawyer as it would have to be someone you both trust.
  2. What you need is an Escrow. There are services online that will hold the funds for you.
